    Funeral services will be Sat., Aug. 18, for Gordon M. Bjork, 84, Madison, who died on Aug. 16, 2007, at Madison Community Hospital. The Rev. Robert Vinslauski will officiate in the Weiland Funeral Chapel, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Bjork was born on June 12, 1923, at Alcester to Sven and Ann (Hemmelrick) Bjork. He graduated from Alcester High School and attended Northern State College. He married Magdalen Schoens on July 22, 1946, at Luverne, Minn. He received a bachelor's degree in history from Dakota State College in 1974. He played in local dance bands, including Danny Kealey, Six Fat Dutchmen, Jimmy Barnett and Sammy Jensen Orchestra. He taught school in Wabasso, Minn., and in Rutland, where he was band director from 1965-84. After he retired from teaching, he worked for Interlakes Community Action as Head Start bus driver until 2006.

    Survivors include four sons, Tim (Bonnie) of Pierre, Greg (Deb) of Ft. Collins, Colo., Pat of Bismarck, N.D., and Eric (Pam) of Stockett, Mont.; two daughters, Mary Bjork and Nancy Bjork, both of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Kviudahl of Anaheim, Calif.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and his wife, Magdalen in 2004.
